Stress & anxiety

When your mind won't switch off, there is a way back to calm

A racing mind, broken sleep, that constant feeling of being one step behind. Anxiety and stress are exhausting to live with, and they respond well to calm, practical support.

No pressure, no jargon. Just a friendly conversation to start.

First, a reassurance. Anxiety is not a flaw or a weakness. It's your mind doing its best to protect you, just a little too enthusiastically. Once you understand what's happening, and why, it becomes something you can genuinely change.

How it helps

Simple tools to calm your system

Learn simple, evidence-informed tools to calm your system, sleep better, and respond rather than react. We look at how you can manage a busy lifestyle, support your nervous system after stress or trauma, and build confidence step by step.

I support people with stress, anxiety, busy minds, confidence, performance, overcoming unwanted habits and feeling overwhelmed. The work is collaborative and present focused: we notice your strengths, set realistic goals, and build momentum session by session.

There's no digging into the past and no need to relive anything difficult. We acknowledge where you are, then take clear, calm steps toward where you want to be.

It might feel like…

  • Thoughts that race ahead, replaying the day or rehearsing tomorrow
  • Trouble falling asleep, or waking in the early hours with a busy head
  • Feeling tense, irritable or on edge over things that never used to bother you
  • Putting things off, or avoiding situations that once felt easy

Everyone's experience is different. This is a guide, not a checklist.

What to expect

How we'd work together

Sessions are calm and unhurried, in person at The Clifton Practice in Bristol or online, whichever suits you best.

1

A free 15-minute chat

We start with a relaxed phone call. You tell me a little about what's going on, I answer your questions, and together we decide whether working together feels right.

2

Understanding your mind

In our first full session we look at how the brain processes stress and why anxiety shows up the way it does. Clients often say this alone is a weight off their shoulders.

3

Steady, session-by-session progress

Each week we notice what's gone well, set small realistic goals, and finish with guided relaxation that helps your mind take on the changes you want to make.

Kind words

What clients say

Over eight sessions, her blend of clear explanations about how the brain processes stress, weekly check-ins, and hypnotherapy has made a huge difference to my day-to-day life. I feel more in control and able to do things that once felt overwhelming. The hypnotherapy itself feels like a mini holiday for the mind.

— Joe McQueen

I feel in a much better place than before seeing Catherine for therapy. Rather than feeling that things are getting worse and out of my control, I now feel that I am making progress in my life and that things are improving and possible.

In the sessions she was very kind and patient. She gave me space to talk about my problems whilst helping me to focus on the positives and plan how I could move forward. I never felt rushed and she always had time to listen.
